Originally trained as an Economist (Master in 2000) with two complementary diploma in Environmental Management (i.e DES and DEA), I would tend to define myself as an Ecological Economist, or, to put it differently, as an economist convinced of the necessity to (re)inscribe and (re)embed economics within the living. Having worked within the Center for Economic and Social Studies on the Environment (CESSE) during five years, I decided to pursue with a genuinely interdisciplinary approach during my PhD study titled ‘The Economics of Climate Change and the Change of Climate in Economics’ and defended in 2009 (ULB). I then became a member of the Executive Committee at the CESSE in charge of supervising researches on ‘lock-in’ phenomena in various fields such as energy, mobility, and food. More recent studies on short food supply chains have led me to take an active role within the ‘Co-create/Sustainable Food’ call for proposal within which I co-promote two projects on the viability of small-scale urban agriculture. These pioneer projects are implemented collectively with field actors and allow us to experiment the richness of actual and effective transdiciplinarity.
Since January 2017, I am a full-time professor in Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech – Université de Liège on the theme of Ecological Economics. I am also an invited lecturer on the same topic in the Université catholique de Louvain. My current researches are on circular economy and multi-actor short-food-supply-chains towards more resilient territories.
