Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)
My training consists of three complementary masters:
- The Master in History of Art and Archaeology has opened the reflection on the image and representations.
- The Master in Information and Communication enabled me to acquire an orchestral vision of communication understood as “performance culture” while focusing my research objects on the mediation of knowledge.
- Finally, my anthropological training ended, in 2010, with a doctoral thesis at the University of Louvain (UCL – Belgium). Under the title « Eternel provisoire », I have studied the transformations of the Romanian peasantry on European time.
This research is based on the analysis of the Romanian domestication practices and transformation of the peasant farms (gospodarii). In continuation of this earlier ethnographic field, my post-doctoral research is a comparative focus on the breeders-animals relationships. The aim is to identify their variation in several technical environments: robotic dairy farming (robotic milking), peasant farming (hand milking) and mega-farm. Besides human-animal-machine familiarization, my study questions the reconfiguration of domestication by the machine and the crossings of science and popular knowledge in daily practices with the cattle. In addition to field investigations in Romania, Belgium, France and, soon, in Sweden, this research has allowed me to conduct scientific stays in the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie Sociale of the Collège de France in 2013, at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) in 2015 and at the Laboratoire d’ethnologie et de sociologie comparée in Paris in 2016. I also benefited from various research funding: the Eugen Ionescu fellowship (AUF), a Fyssen Foundation research grant, a post-doctoral research contract with the FNRS conducted at the Laboratoire d’anthropologie prospective at UCL (2013-2016).
